Why. Each player loses half their life, discards half their hand and sacrifices half their permanents, rounding down. A symmetric effect that only makes sense in a deck built on purpose to profit from it.
Risks. Five black mana: practically uncastable outside a nearly mono-coloured deck. The effect hits both players, so it only favours whoever is already behind.
In the draft. Let it go by. This is not a good pick for a normal draft deck.
