Wizard's Staff

Rare · Artifact — Equipment

Pick rating

4.4WeakRank 152 of 188

A good playable, but is sometimes cut (4.4/10).

Why. A cheap Equipment that gives prowess to the equipped creature and makes each of its triggered abilities trigger one more time (attack, prowess). Equipping a Wizard costs only one mana. In a deck full of noncreature spells, it doubles a lot of value.

Risks. Without creatures that have triggered abilities and without enough spells, it does almost nothing. You have to pay two mana and then equip it, which is slow against an aggressive opponent.

In the draft. A synergy-deck gamble, not a card you take early. Only consider it if you already have creatures with attack triggers or lots of noncreature spells.
