Artwork: Gev, Scaled Scorch
- A set with ten archetypes: each colour pair has its own animal tribe (birds, rats, lizards, raccoons, rabbits, bats, mice, frogs, squirrels, otters) and its own gold uncommon "Mentor".
- Two mechanics show up everywhere: Offspring, extra mana for a 1/1 token copy, and Gift, a gift to the opponent in exchange for a stronger effect.
- Many cards depend on creature type, life lost or gained this turn, or the graveyard: pick your side early and play creatures of the same type.

What players think
Bloomburrow is seen as a fairly fast, creature-based format with thin fixing (two-color decks are the norm) and removal coming mostly from white and black. Opinions split on archetypes: some put the Rabbits and Squirrels on top and the Birds and Otters at the bottom, while others champion the Mice , Frogs and Raccoons and find the Squirrels badly undercooked. Our measured games side with the former: the Lizards , Squirrels and Rabbits hold the top three spots, and and come last. The Mice and Raccoons only land in the middle of the ranking.

Mechanics of the set
Offspring
You may pay an additional cost as you cast the creature; if you did, when it enters, you create a 1/1 token copy of it.
Gift
As you cast the spell, you may promise an opponent a gift (a card, a Food token, a Treasure token or a tapped 1/1 Fish); they get it, and the spell usually has a stronger effect.
Valiant
An effect when the creature becomes the target of a spell or ability you control for the first time each turn.
Threshold
An effect that applies or triggers only if you have seven or more cards in your graveyard.
Expend
An effect when you spend your fourth total mana to cast spells during a turn (expend 4), or your eighth (expend 8).
Forage
To forage, you exile three cards from your graveyard or sacrifice a Food.
Class
An enchantment that levels up: paying a level's cost, at sorcery speed, adds its ability to the earlier ones.

To remember
- Twenty-two cards have Gift: read each one, since the effect you gain differs; on Nocturnal Hunger, not giving costs you 2 life, and on Parting Gust, with no gift the creature comes back.
- Ten Class enchantments need mana and time to level up; ten Expend cards, on the other hand, want you to spend four mana on spells every turn.
- Each colour pair has its own gold uncommon "Mentor": it is the clearest signal of the open pair.
- The five "Village" lands give their colour only to cast creatures; for your other spells they only give colourless mana.
Intrinsic ratings: they do not take into account the cards you have already picked. They matter most for the first pick of the first pack.
